THE HISTORY OF THE CRANBERRY COUNTRY CRUISERS
Our Charter members belonged to a local Chapter but realized that we had several members from the Tomah Area so we started a new Chapter. We had a meeting September 2005 to form our Chapter, organized our officers and sent in our request to become a Chapter of the Good Sam Club. We heard back quickly from the International Good Sam Club and was informed we were accepted as the newest Chapter in Wisconsin on September 26, 2005. We received our Charter at the spring State meeting April 2006. Our first officers and Charter members were: President - Randi (Bonnie) Owen, Tomah; Vice-President - Cheryl (Keith) Keene, Tomah; Secretary/Treasurer - Marshall (Ann) Kiel, Tomah; John & Jenny Johnson, Warrens and Patsy & Crystal Wagner and Darrell Ball, Elroy (5 rigs and 11 members). Our current officers and members are: President - Cheryl (Keith) Keene, Tomah; Vice-President - Jim (Lu) DeVoe, Tomah; Treasurer - Harold & Secretary - Diane Janechek, Reedsberg; Randi (Bonnie) Owen, Alaska; Marshall & Anne Kiel, Tomah; John & Jenny Johnson, Warrens; Esther Bohnert, Sparta; Bruce & Sandy Gordon, WI Rapids; David & Jean Stelzer, WI Rapids; Juergen & Delpha Lucka, Tomah; John & Sharen Hammes, Bangor; Robert & Sharon Kalovsky, Onalaska and Roy & Joyce Skogen, Tomah. We informed the State Director in September 2005 at the Fall State Meeting that we were going to apply for a new Charter and we had our proposed patch and flag approved at that time. We also decided to have sashes instead of the traditional vests to put our patches and pins on. We are now 4 years old. We believe as members of the State Organization, that we should promote any State events and participate in their success, so our June campout is held at the State Samboree and our September campout is held at the SW District Jumbo. We were voted the WI Chapter of the Year in 2006/2009, we received the 2006/2008 Dogs for the Deaf Top Dog Flag for the Chapter who donated the most from our State and we hosted the SW District Jumbo in 2006 & 2007. We currently have 13 families totaling 25 members. |
