Organization Meeting-Sparta
The November organization meeting for the new Good Sam Chapter, Cranberry Country Cruisers will be held Sunday, November 13th, at the City Limits Restaurant, (use to be Sydney’s), in Sparta, WI at 12:30 pm. We will be having an informational meeting and will eat at the restaurant. You can order off the menu or they will have a buffet available. If you are planning on attending, could you please let us know, so we can give the restaurant a heads up on how many to expect. They just opened on October 3rd and would appreciate it. Anyone interested in becoming a member of this new Chapter should come to the meeting.

We will still be collecting food for the food pantries in our Chapter at each meeting and we’ll save empty aluminum cans for the Boys and Girls Club in Tomah, pop tops for the Ronald McDonald House, and Moola Milk Bottle Tops for the Boys & Girls Club in Tomah.

WEBSITE UPDATE
Randi started working on our website. He linked it off of the WI Good Sam Website. It’s basically under construction, but the address is www.wigoodsam.org/cranberrycountrycruisers. Check it out on occasion and see how it’s progressing.

Featured Recipe -
Acorn Squash Casserole
Ingredients: 2 medium acorn squash (about 1-1/2 lbs each) 1 lb. bulk sausage, cooked & drained well 1 (10-oz) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed & squeezed dry 1/2 medium onion, chopped 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper 1/4 tsp black pepper 2/3 cup shredded Parmesan cheese (dairy cheese—not dry), divided (or can use mozzarella cheese) Sweetened Cranberries

Directions: Carefully cut each squash in half (Note: Cut lengthwise if stuffing shells—easiest if cut just next to stem instead of through the stem). Using a spoon, scrape out & discard seeds. Place squash halves upside down on a baking sheet sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Bake at 350 degrees for 50-55 minutes or until tender. Scoop out squash (leaving a 1/4 inch shell if stuffing). In a bowl, combine the squash pulp, cooked sausage, spinach, onion, 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese, cayenne pepper, and black pepper. Put mixture into a 2-qt casserole dish (or into squash “shells”). Sprinkle with remaining 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese. Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes or until heated through and top is golden brown.

Review of October Organizational Meeting
The Hearty Platter in Tomah, WI was the meeting place of our first meeting as the Cranberry Country Cruisers and we had a wonderful turn out. We sent in our Charter request with 5 members and we now have 3 more for a total of 8 units and we had two other guests besides.

There were no minutes to read, as our Charter meeting was the only one we’ve had besides this one, but we reviewed some of the ideas we had.

The treasurer’s report was basically the same thing, we have no money, but that changed by the end of the meeting, so hopefully we’ll have a report next month.

Some of the old business we discussed was the Status of our Charter, what we’re all about, charities we plan on supporting, the Chapter of the Year submission, Samboree, SW Jumbo, plans for the website and the Cranberry Country Cruisers’ Constitution.

We will be having a Brat/Bake Sale on May 20th with the alternate date being June 3rd. We voted to purchase the left over Brats that Randi’s FOP group had for $2.00 a package for 32 packages. Each package has 6 brats in it.

We should be getting our Dogs for the Deaf Patches from the Jack Pine Travelers for the $700 donation, so our next level for patches will be $1,000.

HIGHWAYS MAGAZINE
I submitted our first article to the Highways Magazine. It will be in the February 2006 issue.

We started a fund raiser for Dogs for the Deaf where the Chapter will provide at least two gifts at each meeting and if you have a member that has a birthday or anniversary in the same month as the meeting, you bring a gift as well to be raffled off at the end of the meeting for 25 cents a ticket or 5/$1.00. Last month’s winners were: Marshall Kiel - an autumn wreath & Richard Green - 3 puzzles.
