The meeting was called to order by President
Dolly Eggert at 2:25 pm at Maxim’s Old Depot Restaurant, Oconomowoc, WI.
Members present were: Eggerts, Jepsons, Wagners, Borkoskis (hosts),
Michels, Jordans, Seehusens, Gene Pagel (and guest Jo Yee of South
Korea), Marie Genzmer, Dick Walloch, Gerrits, Munnagles, Hansens, Joanne
Baker, Arnolds and Schmidts. Additional guests were Dennis and Kathy
Brophey.
Following the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance, a motion was made by
Dick Wagner and Neal Michel to accept the November meeting minutes as
emailed to the membership by Secretary Borkoski. Motion passed.
Marlene (Tyke) Munnagle presented the
treasurer’s report showing an ending balance of $965.75. A motion was
made by Pat Gerrits and Dick Wagner to accept the report. Motion passed.
The only correspondence received this month
was for WAGS, given to Barb Jordan by the President.
Our collection of labels will be taken to
Shepherd’s home in the spring by Jordans. Applause and thank you was
given to Marie Genzmer for handling this duty for us for several years.
Thank you, Marie!
Gene Pagel reported for Laura Wanezek,
sunshine chairperson, that five cards were sent during the month. A
request was made that the general membership be emailed when cards were
sent so the whole membership knows when someone has been ill, etc. Fines
totaling $6.00 were collected and given to Gene from those who forgot
their membership badges.
Neal Michel reminded us to save cans and tabs
and bring them to future meetings, to build up our funds for future
charity donations.
The Wagonmasters (Michels) reported that May,
October and the Christmas party remain as open dates for hosts. The
proposed dates are May 14 through 16, October 8 through 10 and the
holiday party could be scheduled for January, 2011, since that worked
well for us this year. Barb Jordan made an impassioned plea for members
to “step up the plate” to organize/host a campout or social function and
she further pointed out that the prime summer camping months of June,
July and August lack “private” chapter activities. If alternate campouts
are made available for these months, the dates will be selected so as to
not conflict with the established state Good Sam function dates.
Joyce Borkoski and Joanne Baker suggested that
a vote be taken to determine the members’ interest in joining the Rocky
Rollers by accepting the invitation to camp at Walworth County
Fairgrounds with them the weekend of October 8 through10. No one
objected to this plan, except to note that the log cabin might be too
small to accommodate a large group if the weather is inclement. It is
unknown if the larger community building is already booked that weekend.
Vote was in favor of the joint campout.
Dianne Michel announced that the Wagonmasters will select a location for
the May weekend and it will be a “casual, laid back, unstructured”
campout with no official host/activities since no one has come forward
to plan an outing for this month. We customarily have a fish fry option
for Friday night, potluck breakfast/meeting on Saturday morning and a
potluck Saturday night. These can remain as elements to an
“unstructured” weekend and everyone can bring firewood, games and
organize other activities after we arrive. It is possible that there
would not be an official chapter meeting at these campouts.
Joanne stated that she thinks an alternate August weekend is still
possible at Playful Goose in Horicon, hosted by Grieses/Schaller/Baker.
More on this later, stay tuned.
Gene Pagel reminded us that the March meeting will be at the Shamrock
Pub and Grille in Caledonia at 2:00 pm on Sunday, the 14th. Exit
7 mile road, drive east to Highway 38 and turn right (south) about
one-half mile, to 7641 Highway 38. (Wear your green, kiss the blarney
stone, tune up your shillelagh and develop a taste for Guinness! Gene,
do they serve Haggis or Mead?)
Dolly reminded us that the Southeast jumbo in
Elkhorn (WCFG) is July 9 through 11; the Northeast jumbo is in
Luxemburg, August 12 through 15 and the State Samboree is Father’s Day
weekend, June 17 through 20. If you need further info on these “outside
the chapter” activities, see the Wagonmasters or Dolly, or reference
your copy of the Sam-O-Gram for 2010, which should be available in March
or April.
Everyone is invited to caravan from the Eggert property in Montello on
Sunday, May 9 to New Ulm, Minnesota to attend the Minnesota State
Samboree, finding a campground Sunday night en route and arriving at the
rally on Monday. Let the Eggerts know if you plan to join the caravan.
After an explanation by Dolly of the services provided, Neal Michel
proposed a motion to donate $200 to the Easter Seal Society for our
charity this month. Warren seconded and the motion passed.
A vote was taken on making a collection/donation to Haiti earthquake
relief, in addition to our established charities. It was decided to keep
our group efforts more local in emphasis and leave the international
disaster giving to individuals as they desire. It is felt that most
individuals gave to Haiti during the month of January.
Dolly announced that we have an opening for the webmaster position.
Kristen Hansen is willing to train anyone who agrees to take on this
responsibility. Please contact Dolly if you would like to
volunteer/explore this opportunity to serve the chapter. (Webmaster's
Note: You do not need to know HTML code, only have Microsoft
FrontPage and a word processor to do editing and the ability to print to
PDF for the archive.)
Joyce and Jerry will communicate to Joanne/Horst the contents of a new
member packet that was used in the past, for welcoming new members to
camping and to the group.
Dolly began a review and discussion of the proposed bylaw changes. The
new draft had previously been emailed to members and we were encouraged
to bring our own printouts to the meeting today.
The first suggestion was a clarification of social membership and the
rights of same. It was decided that we only have two categories of
membership, regular dues paying and voting; and honorary, non-dues
paying, non-voting members. Since persons who do not own rigs pay the
same dues as regular voting members (international, state and local)
they are/will be accorded full voting rights. So, in effect, we do not
have a social membership category. This represents a policy change from
the past, but not a bylaw change.
Discussion produced suggested changes to the revision of bylaws for the
following sections:
